Big Brother Bubba

Meet big brother Bubba, he was born two years ago this September. However, if horses enter into competition, regardless of a horse's actual birth date, they are considered a year older on January 1 of each year

Bubba has the same mother and father as Buster. He already stands over 16 hands. Horses are measured by hands . A hand equals 4 inches. If you hold your hand like you are pointing at someone then straighten all your fingers that's one hand. You could then stack one hand over the other and measure the height of the horse. You measure up to the highest part at the back of the neck and that is known as withers.

Bubba has been around people since he was as old as Buster. He is very comfortable around people. He loves to pose for the camera.

It's a boy

Exactly 11 months to the day Lilly had her foal, Buster. We were surprised this morning to wake to find a new colt. We think she had him early morning. Mother and baby are good. The pictures say it all.

Meet Lilly

Lilly is our mare due to foal in early August. She gave birth to a colt two years ago in September, Bubba. I'll introduce him later. The foal will be a full brother or sister and we are excited to see how much they will look like each other. Pregnancy lasts for approximately 11 months for horses. Lilly needs a bit of mane grooming but you can see her baby belly from behind.
